This week, I had the chance to do some plein air painting at a local flower farm. It was such a peaceful evening, surrounded by beauty, and I felt lucky to have the opportunity to capture that in paint. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m deep within ‘the gap’ of my artistic journey. If you’re not familiar with ‘the gap,’ it’s a term that describes the space between what you’re creating and where you want your work to be. It’s not about whether my work is good or bad—it’s more of an internal struggle, a space where I find myself right now. If you haven’t heard of it before, I recommend checking out this video for a better explanation. Being in the gap is tough because it’s where doubt creeps in, and it’s easy to feel like giving up. Even while painting at the flower farm, those thoughts were there (they’ve been showing up a lot lately). In fact, I ended up wiping off my first attempt entirely. I was on the verge of packing up and heading home, but I decided to start again instead. I’m so glad I pushed through, because not only did I learn something in the process, I was also much happier with my second attempt. I’m not sure I have a grand point to make here. Maybe I just needed to share these thoughts or maybe you're in a similar spot with your own creative endeavors. Either way, I hope this resonates with you. Now, on a lighter note, here's what's new on the blog this week. I hope you find something delicious to make or inspiring to decorate. Enjoy!
