πŸ•―οΈπŸŽ„Giving Myself Permission to Simplify

Well, I think I might start decorating for Christmas this weekend. I know it is early. But it has been stressing me out and I just want to get a few things done. Maybe starting will help a bit.

Can I be honest for a second? We are friends here. I just do not feel like decorating for Christmas this year. Of course there are a few things I absolutely want to do, but the rest just feels kind of eh.

I have felt this way the past few years, but I always push through. This year the feeling is louder. In recent years I have kept a lot of my decorations the same and only changed a few small things here and there. I also try to avoid buying new and instead craft a little or reuse what I already have. That part does feel better, but it still does not feel like enough.

Then I go back and forth thinking maybe I am just being lazy. But then I remind myself this is simply where my energy is this year and that is okay. And then the spiral starts again. I see someone else do an incredible tree and I start thinking maybe I should come up with some big idea and gather all the things. But that only creates more stuff that I really do not want to add to the 25 plus totes that I already drag up and down from the attic.

So at this point I have no clue where I will land. I know I want to simplify. I might even only do one tree this year which feels wild since it has been fourteen years of more than one. Most importantly, I am trying to let myself be okay with whatever gets done and let the rest go.

Anyway, you are probably not here for my self made Christmas decorating drama. That is just where my brain is right now. And do not worry, I do have a few fun handmade Christmas decor ideas that I am excited to make and share. My Mom is coming this week and we will be crafty little elves.

Until then, here are some other goodies you can check out, make, and decorate.

Oh, and in case you missed it, my 2nd Annual Holiday Art Sale has officially begun and continues. You can read all about it here. One quick update. I tightened up the hours a bit, so art will now be listed between 11am and 8pm EST. Just a friendly FYI.

I should have over 200 pieces this year, so I am really hoping everyone who wants something gets something.

A Few Treasures Worth Sharing

  • Just ordered this new mailing label printer because I just about chucked my other one out the window after spending over an hour trying to get it to print. Fingers crossed this one is better!
  • An artist friend said this is the best water brush pen. (For on-the-go art!) I ordered one and can't wait to try it. I recently took a trip to Minnesota and did some watercolors on the plane. This will come in handy.
  • These mercury glass droplet ornaments are stunning! These may be the one new holiday thing I buy this year.
