A creative weekend, new art in the shop, and a few festive favorites to share. A couple of weekends ago, four friends and I, including my mom, hopped on a plane and traveled to Minnesota to visit another friend. We all met on an art retreat in France two years ago. None of us had ever met in person before, and we barely knew each other outside of the art instructor, who we only knew online. Since then, we’ve been trying to meet up once a year. Most of us live in Pennsylvania, but one friend lives in Minnesota, and she invited us to her home for a long weekend. We’re all creative types painters, knitters, photographers, quilters and when creative people get together, something special always seems to happen. We had such a wonderful visit. Our friend Mary taught us how to solder, and now I have to keep reminding myself that I do not need a full soldering set up. (I don't need another hobby ... right now. Ha!) We visited the most charming little shed in a woman’s backyard that was filled with dried flowers, and we each made wreaths. We painted, chatted, spent time in the studio, and soaked up that feeling of being around people who truly get your creative spirit. It was exactly the kind of weekend where the world seems to pause long enough for you to refill your tank, which I needed more than ever now that I’m knee deep in holiday art, crafts, baking, etc. I can easily get wrapped up in work and life (mostly work), and this trip was a gentle reminder of how important it is to step away and refuel. Doing it with people who need that creative nourishment just as much as you do makes all the difference. Life is pretty amazing. Six strangers who once met by chance are now friends I hope to keep for years to come. Moments like this remind me that creativity doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It grows when we share it, when we show up for each other, and when we let ourselves be inspired by the people around us. Shop My Artwork NOW! I should have over 200 pieces this year, so I am really hoping everyone who wants something gets something. We are about halfway through the sale, so lots more to come! PS.
